MORGAN RECREATION GROUND GAMES AREA REGENERATION - CONTRACT AWARDED
During an extensive public consultation last year, Crowthorne Parish Council gathered views from many locals, including immediate neighbours, school pupils, local park managers, people attending our Summer of Fun event, our caretaking staff and the police on the refurbishment and regeneration of the old basketball court at the Morgan Rec.
Their input also supported the commitments Crowthorne Parish Council made, and the public voted on in the Crowthorne Neighbourhood Plan to 'Work with Bracknell Forest Council to seek funds for improvements to sports/recreation facilities such as the creation of a MUGA at the Morgan Recreation Ground on underutilised hard surface.'
This information was used to create a working design; including a multi marked games area with football and basketball goals, callisthenics work out bars, an assault course and table tennis tables. The winning design is currently on display in the library and in the image below. This not only incorporates inspirational sports and exercise equipment but is sympathetic to views of the neighbours and includes CCTV and low level bollard lighting.
At its meeting last week, Crowthorne Parish Council awarded the contract for the project to Proludic as their design best reflected the input from all consultees in the survey.
Crowthorne Parish Council is confident Proludic's design includes equipment that people want, and will use, and that can be kept clean and safe to ensure the Rec continues to be a popular local facility to be proud of.
If you have any comments on the design please do call into the Morgan Centre between 9am - 1pm Monday to Friday or ring 01344 771 251.
